To stay safe on Scratch:

1. Do not share personally identifiable information on Scratch. Personally identifiable information is information that could enable someone else to figure out who you are in real life.

Personally identifiable information includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Your city/town or address

  • Your school’s name

  • Your IP address

  • Your real first name

  • Your real last name

  • Your school’s location

  • Your school’s initials, mascot, or other fairly unique traits

  • Your birthday

  • Your student ID number

  • Your teacher’s, guardian’s, or friend’s real name

  • Your phone number

  • Your email address

2. Do not share your password. If a Scratch Project asks for your password, do not enter it (and use the "Report" button to let the Scratch Team know that they should remove the project). Only enter your password when logging into Scratch. Do not tell anyone your password.

3. Avoid phishing. The Scratch Team's emails may come from addresses at scratch.mit.edu or scratch.org. Any emails you may get from other email addresses are not coming from the Scratch Team. Do not open the email and let us know about it at Contact Us!
